A simple, wholesome pretzel you can make at home, with a gentle swirl of Marmite for colour and savoury depth.
Great for beginners, no fancy equipment, just a little kneading and a quick baking-soda bath.

For the dough

  • 5-6 g active dry yeast
  • 60 ml warm water
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 130 g bread flour
  • 120 g wholemeal flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 120 ml cup water, room temp

For the Marmite dough

  • 30 g Marmite

(kneaded into half the dough)

For the boiling step

  • 6 cups water
  • 2-3 tbsp baking soda

To finish


  • 10-20 g Sesame seeds
