Classic hot dogs

    Classic hot dogs - the perfect mix and match meal and a plant-based alternative to classic hot dogs.

    Ingredients

    • 2 brown onions, thinly sliced
    • 1 tbsp olive oil
    • 1 pack Vegie Delights™ Hot Dogs
    • 6 hot dog rolls
    • 1/2 cup reduced fat cheese of choice, grated
    • 1 shallot, sliced
    • Your favourite hot dog sauces – we used tomato and American style mustard

    Method

    1. Preheat oven to 150°C. Heat oil in a non-stick frypan over medium heat. Add onion and cook, stirring regularly until caramelised (approx. 10 minutes). Set aside.
    2. Add Hot Dogs to frypan and cook for 4-5 minutes.
    3. Warm hot dog buns in oven for a few minutes. Slice tops lengthwise.

    To serve, top each roll with cooked onion, cheese and a Hot Dog. Garnish with shallot and a drizzle of your favourite hot dog sauce.
