At Sanitarium, we’re committed to providing healthy, sustainable food by reducing our environmental impact. Our philosophy of caring for our world underpins all our production processes. We use reliable and affordable clean energy and water efficiently and are designing out waste and pollution, keeping product and materials in use. This contributes to a circular economy, reusing and recycling materials instead of them going to landfill.
- We transferred the manufacture of flavours used in our beverages from Europe to a local supply model, reducing food miles.
- More than 15 tonnes of stabiliser per year was being repacked to smaller bags by a second supplier, so we sourced 4kg bags of stabiliser directly, saving processing, freight and packaging.
- We moved malt supply from Asian to Australian origin, reducing the food miles for 100 tonnes of product per year.
