Apple almond crumble

A slight twist on this old classic dessert provides a real treat for those wanting to end their meal with a healthy indulgence.

Ingredients

  • 800g canned apples or stewed apples
  • ¼ cup sultanas
Crumble
  • ⅓ cup wholemeal plain flour
  • ⅓ cup white plain flour
  • ⅓ cup almond meal
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 80g margarine
  • ¼ cup flaked almonds

Method

  1. Combine apples and sultanas in an ovenproof dish.
  2. Sift flours into a bowl. Add sugar and almond meal.
  3. Rub margarine into flour mixture. Sprinkle crumble and flaked almonds over apple.
  4. Bake in a moderate oven, 180°C for 40 minutes or until golden.
