Masala chai

    Made with fresh ginger and whole spices, this creamy, vegan version of the classic Indian drink is the perfect balance of spicy and sweet.

    Ingredients

    • 1 caffeine-free black tea bag  
    • 1 teaspoon whole cloves 
    • 1 teaspoon green cardamom pods, crushed
    • 3 whole star anise
    • 1 tsp black peppercorns  
    • 1 stick cinnamon 
    • 1 thumb fresh ginger, sliced
    • 1 cup Water
    • 1 cup So Good Extra Creamy Chilled Oat Milk  
    • 2 tsp maple syrup
    • Ground cinnamon, a pinch to sprinkle on top

    Method

    1. Step 1

      Add the tea bag, cloves, cardamom, star anise, peppercorns, cinnamon, ginger and water into a small saucepan. Bring to the boil then lower the heat and gently simmer for 5 minutes until spices and tea have infused into the water. 
    2. Step 2

      Add in the milk and maple syrup and bring to a gentle boil. Remove from heat just as it starts to foam and rise.
    3. Step 3

      Pour into 2 mugs through a small strainer. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon. Enjoy immediately.
