At Sanitarium we source a large amount of our almonds from Australia, which is the largest producer of almonds in the Southern Hemisphere.
Our almond suppliers are dedicated to delivering high quality produce and they taste delicious. We've been adding almonds to our products for over 20 years.
Almonds are a relative of peaches and grow in a similar way. At harvest, the outer fruit is removed and discarded and the shell, similar to a peach pit, is cracked to release the almond inside. Almonds contain a desirable fat profile containing mainly monounsaturated fat and they are also one of the few food sources of vitamin E.
In spring the almond orchards are full of beautiful blossom and late summer/early autumn they're ready for harvest.
